This week has been the longest yet! we have a lot of classes this week since we are leaving monday for an overnight field trip until thursday. today we went from 9:30 to 7:30. you can tell we are spoiled now because we complain about only having one field trip this week!! silly us.
Monday morning we walked up the street to the Bernini Elementary School. the older students had a little performance for us where they did a song and dance for us celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Italy. they also had a few speakers to tell us about Italy's history. it was so adorable and they were so happy we were there!

after an hour at the elementary school, we went back to the highschool where we got to talk with the students again!
THEN, it was lunchtime :) we love lunchtime on Monday's because that means we get a meal from Mary Lou!! This week we had :

and
Pineapple Fritters

i am unsure as to why i have never had a pineapple fritter before...
they are delicious!! |
Tuesday, we started off the day at the
World Food Program.
"It is part of the United Nations and if funded solely through volunteers. In emergencies, they get food to where it is needed, saving lives of victims of war, civil conflict and natural disasters. After the cause of an emergency has passed, they use food to help communities rebuild their shattered lives." Oddly enough, their headquarters are in Rome, and even more odd, the girl who gave us our tour was an Auburn Alum! She graduated 2 years ago and actually knew some of the girls on the trip. While at Auburn, she interned in Rome at WFP and ended up getting a job with it when she graduated, so there she was! Also, the current intern that we met was also from Auburn! It was very nice to see Auburn family-- it has been SO long! Auburn, was actually the very first University to get connected with WFP and continues to raise money for them with campus organizations like "Fill the Cup" and Hunger Marches! [Auburn] War Eagle to that!http://www.wfp.org/
After WFP, we went to Tirelli's Tailor Workshop. It is a collection of 100,000 theater and cinema costumes, one of the largest costume workshops in the world! Our tour guide was Andrea Sorrentino who is a designer himself and asked worked with people like Kristen Dunst in Marie Antoinette!

the rest of the week has just been filled with classes and homework assignments!! we cannot believe it is at the end of week 9 and we only have 3 weeks left! time has literally flown by. in the morning, there are eight of us leaving for Switzerland to skiing in the apps [i am so excited!]. we will be staying with a family friend of one of the girls here. it is so crazy how traveling has become like second nature to us now. we know exactly what to do, how to pack, and everything else that comes along with traveling! it is so great!
next week, like i said, we will be on an overnight field trip to Milan until Thursday. Thursday night we leave straight from Milan to Barcelona!! i feel like i am in a dream and someone just needs to pinch me and i wake up... i am so very blessed to be experiencing all this!! i cannot wait to update you all on our adventures!
hope all is well :)
ciao!
